Good food is a big part of vacation fun! Fortunately, on our recent South Dakota adventure, we had no trouble finding good eats in the Black Hills.
On our Black Hills trip, we stayed in a cabin with a kitchenette and an outdoor grill. So, we fixed many of our own meals at the cabin. We also ate at several area restaurants during the trip.

Here are some of our culinary highlights:
Wall Drug, Wall, SD
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the famous Wall Drug. We stopped here on our journey across South Dakota. It wasn’t meal time, so we just got a snack. This cake donut had plenty of chocolate and was a tasty treat!
Daily Bread Bakery and Cafe, Hot Springs, SD
In between visits to Wind Cave National Park and Mammoth Hot Springs, we stopped for lunch at Daily Bread Bakery and Cafe. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day so I particularly enjoyed the fact that I was able to order breakfast food at lunchtime! In addition to the regular menu, there is also a case full of tasty baked goods!
Blue Belle Lodge Chuck Wagon Dinner, Custer, SD
The Blue Belle Lodge Chuck Wagon Dinner is much more than a dinner! Complete with a hayride, entertainment, and an old fashioned sing-a-long, this evening was lots of fun. To top it all off, the food was great!

Cruizzers Pizza, Keystone SD
We stopped at Cruzziers Pizza for a quick bite to eat after visiting Mount Rushmore and before touring the Big Thunder Gold Mine. Cruizzers has individual size pizzas. I appreciate this since we all like different types of pizza in my family.

Purple Pie Place, Custer SD
Before our trip, I’d been told that the Purple Pie Place was a MUST. And, the pie did not disappoint! I enjoyed the blueberry pie a la mode!
Sage Creek Grille, Custer, SD
We attempted to visit a highly rated restaurant down the road, but the wait time was over an hour. And, I’m a big NO on waiting that long to eat! As an alternative, we found the Sage Creek Grille and were quite pleased. I very much enjoyed my steak sandwich!

Blue Belle Lodge Restaurant, Custer SD
On our last night in the Black Hills, we had a pleasant dinner at the Blue Belle Lodge Restaurant. I enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the meal!
There is no need to worry about going hungry in the Black Hills of South Dakota. There are plenty of options to fit your taste and budget!
