Travel tees make the BEST souvenirs! In Tip & Tee, I show off an awesome tee I picked up on my trip and share a trip tip for that destination.
Nestled in the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas is America’s first National River, the Buffalo. At the Buffalo River, visitors can explore waterfalls, interesting rock formations, towering bluffs, dense forests, and unique caves. This area is a perfect place for those who love an outdoor playground.

The one thing you won’t find at the Buffalo National River? A city. However, several small communities at various points along the river offer lodging, food, and outfitting services.
Buffalo River Trip Tip
One of the communities along the Buffalo River is Jasper, Arkansas. Jasper has a population of about 500 and serves as the seat of Newton County.

On our recent Buffalo River adventure, we enjoyed floating, hiking, and, of course, eating. You might think dining options would be limited in Jasper. And, they are. The town only has a handful of restaurants. But, fortunately, one of them is a delightful little bakery cafe which offers homemade goodness that you won’t soon forget.

The Blue Mountain Bakery and Cafe is on the main highway through Jasper, Hwy 7. This little gem serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

We ate at Blue Mountain Bakery & Cafe twice during our weekend at the Buffalo River, dinner and breakfast. At dinner, this cafe serves a good variety of options including burgers, salads, sandwiches, appetizers, as well as ice cream and shakes.

While enjoying our dinner, we couldn’t help but notice the tempting baked goods on display. So, on our way out of town the next morning, we stopped to grab some homemade muffins, cinnamon rolls, and cookies. My strawberry muffin might actually have been the best muffin I’ve ever tasted. Sorry, there is no photo of said muffin… I got distracted.

One thing is for certain… you’ll need some good fuel for your outdoor adventures at the Buffalo. Whether you’re looking for a good dinner after a long day on the river or to begin your day of hiking with a delicious breakfast, be sure to check out the Blue Mountain Bakery and Cafe. I know I’ll be making a stop at this bakery on the corner on my next Buffalo trip!
