Berry Hill Trail in Gros Morne National Park is near the town of Rocky Harbour, Newfoundland. This fun trail is one you won’t want to miss!
Gros Morne’s Berry Hill Trail is relatively short. It is only 1.5 km or just under a mile round trip. However, it is fairly steep with an elevation gain of approximately 100 meters (330 ft) in this short distance.
Berry Hill Trail ascends Berry Hill. Once on top, the trail circles the crest of the hill. For the return trip, simply head back down the way you came.
The first part of the trail is deceptively easy. You’ll hike through a wooded area where the incline is minimal.
Then, you’ll reach the steep sections of the trail. Fortunately, there are stairs which make the climb easier.
I also appreciated the strategically located benches. These are great places to just sit and enjoy the beauty of Gros Morne (in other words, stop and catch your breath).
Once you reach the top of the hill, you’ll be rewarded with great views of Gros Morne National Park and the Atlantic Ocean.
Hiking Berry Hill Trail doesn’t take long. An hour is plenty of time to enjoy this trail at a leisurely pace. And, the payoff at the top is worth the uphill climb.
