After a morning exploring the fascinating exhibits at the New York Transit Museum, I was ready for something satisfying—and a little different—for lunch. That led me to Panzerotti Bites Brooklyn, a cozy little gem serving authentic flavors from southern Italy.

You’ll find Panzerotti Bites tucked along Smith Street in Brooklyn’s Carroll Gardens neighborhood.

The specialty here is, of course, the panzerotti—Italy’s answer to the handheld pocket of joy. It’s like a calzone, but lighter, crispier, and arguably more fun to eat.

Everything is made to order, so you can watch your dough get filled, folded, and fried until golden brown.

I ordered the Crudo di Parma stuffed with Prosciutto Crudo di Parma, fresh mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, and arugula. Fried to perfection, the outside was crisp and golden, while the inside was fresh, melty, and bursting with flavor.

It was simple, high-quality food done exceptionally well—and something totally new to me.

The interior of Panzerotti Bites Brooklyn is cozy and inviting, with a few tables and chairs for dining in, plus a small sofa that adds a relaxed, homey touch to the space.

Panzerotti Bites Brooklyn felt like a little slice of Puglia tucked into this NYC borough. The ingredients were fresh, the preparation was spot-on, and it was a unique twist on Italian street food that made for a memorable meal. If you’re looking for a quick, flavorful lunch that steps outside the ordinary, this place is worth the stop.
