For me, breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. I need a good, hearty breakfast to fuel up before heading out for sightseeing or exploring a new port. On our summer sailing aboard the Sun Princess, we had no trouble finding just that. Most mornings, we went to The Eatery, the ship’s buffet. At breakfast (and lunch), The Eatery also includes the Americana Diner just behind it, so the two spaces together create one large buffet with tons of variety and lots of space for the morning rush. (In the evenings, the Americana Diner becomes its own sit-down restaurant, but in the mornings it’s simply an extension of the buffet. )
We also grabbed pastries and parfaits from the International Café and even tried room service once. Whether we were sitting down for a full plate or just picking up something to take back to the room, the Sun Princess gave us plenty of delicious ways to start the day right.

The Eatery: Hearty Favorites
The Eatery was our go-to most mornings. The hot breakfast section had all the classics…scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and crispy hash browns.

They even had baked beans and grilled tomatoes for those who enjoy a more European-style start to the day.

My usual plate looked a lot like this: eggs, bacon, a croissant, and a hash brown. Simple, but exactly what I needed.

The omelet station was another highlight — fresh, hot, and filled with veggies.

The Americana Diner Pastry Cases
Since the Americana Diner space is part of the buffet at breakfast, it added even more variety — especially when it came to pastries.

Nutella croissants, almond croissants, pistachio croissants, and pain au chocolat… there were so many to choose from.

And if croissants weren’t enough, there were also donuts — from powdered sugar jelly-filled to chocolate-topped creations that looked almost too pretty to eat.

Plates We Loved
One morning, I found biscuits and gravy — such a comforting surprise at sea.

We also tried some of the breakfast sandwiches, which were easy to grab and take back to the room.

Other mornings, we kept it simple with just meat and potatoes.

And of course, waffles made an appearance too — these with a berry topping were especially good.

International Café: Light & Trendy
When we wanted something lighter, we stopped at the International Café. The choices included strawberry chia parfaits, egg bites, avocado toast, and ham and cheese croissants.

There were also smoked salmon bagels, paninis, and classic egg and cheese sandwiches — perfect for mixing things up.

A Sweet (or Fresh) Finish
Alongside all the pastries, there was always plenty of fresh fruit if you wanted to start the day a little lighter.

If you’re sailing with Princess, a wrist holder for your Medallion is a simple little thing that makes life on board extra convenient. You can find the ones we used on Amazon here!
Starting the Day Right
Breakfast on the Sun Princess offered the best of both worlds: hearty, traditional options for when you wanted a big meal and lighter choices for when you wanted to keep it simple.
Between The Eatery, the Americana Diner space, the International Café, and room service, there was no shortage of ways to start the morning.
You could also have breakfast in the main dining room if you wanted a sit-down experience, but for us, it never felt necessary. We were perfectly happy with the variety and convenience of the other options.
For me, a good breakfast sets the tone for the whole day, and the Sun Princess made sure I was ready for every adventure.
