The USS Midway Museum is one of the top rated attractions in sunny San Diego. Considering how many things there are to do in this Southern California city, achieving such high traveler ratings is a really big deal!
The USS Midway is an aircraft carrier which was in service in the US Navy for 47 years. This ship has seen a lot of action over the years and is now retired. Fortunately, it has been transformed into a museum. Touring the USS Midway Museum in San Diego is fascinating!
USS Midway Museum Trip Tip
The USS Midway Museum is enormous! So, I recommend allowing AT LEAST 4 hours for your visit. The museum entrance fee includes a self-guided audio tour for exploring the carrier. Quite frankly, we didn’t budget enough time for this attraction. We were there about 3 hours and did not get close to seeing it all.
On my next visit to the USS Midway, I’ll allow more time and take a different approach. As you might imagine, touring the USS Midway Museum requires a lot of walking and climbing. Next time, I’ll plan to tour for couple of hours in the morning, stop for lunch, and then continue to explore after a lunch break.
However you decide to approach your visit to the USS Midway Museum, I’m sure you’ll agree that this attraction lives up to the hype. Touring the Midway gave me greater appreciation of men and women of the US Navy and what it takes to run such a massive floating city!
