You might think that my must-see sight in Yellowstone National Park would be something like Old Faithful or Grand Prismatic. Nope. Now, don’t get me wrong, you should see those iconic places. However, my Yellowstone National Park must-see sight is Mammoth Hot Springs.

Mammoth Hot Springs is not close in proximity to the headliners of Yellowstone. It lies in the far northwest corner of the park, so it would be easy to skip if one were pressed for time. Don’t.

Mammoth Hot Springs is a bubbling spring. However, what makes this place spectacular is not the water itself. Rather, it is the ginormous size of the travertine terraces created by the limestone deposits.

Once you visit Mammoth Hot Springs, it won’t take you long to realize that this spring is aptly named. It really is huge. There are boardwalks that traverse the terraces so that visitors can better appreciate its scale.

Yellowstone National Park was everything I expected it to be and so much more! You’ll find awesomeness around every turn. Just be sure to make time to head up to see Mammoth Hot Springs. It is truly a one of a kind experience!
